I pack my bike in a box. Took the flight at 8.00pm. Paid 710RM and 80.000R for my bike and 150.000 for airport tax, Landed in K.L 11.00pm. I stay in my brother's house in Kajang. Next morning I took a bus to Parit Buntar. Reach home safely and happy to see my family again. Thanks to all my new friends for guideing me during my cycling trip in Jawa-Bali.

I met Peter and Mary in Sri Ratu Hotel in Kuta. Very nice couple and friendly. I learn about the Bali culture from Peter, he explain to the history of Bali too. This is a nice hotel I stay so far and paid a good price. It's clean and workers are always helpful. I stay 3 night because I have to wait for my flight is on 5th.1.08.

A kind man took me to airport to buy my flight ticket to K.L and later of the dayI ask him to have a beer with me to night, he said Ok why don't. So he took me to pub with karaoke. Had few bottles of beer and Arak.

Denpasar to Kuta

I started at 6.00am, not knowing it is 12,5 km to Kuta. Denpasar is beautiful big town. A lot of hand Craft things are sold here. Specially statue of Hindu gods. I have a friend in Kuta which was introduce by Me Me the lady I met in Kijang. I met Mr.Bangman, he is the manager of Sri Ratu Hotel in Kuta. He discount me the rate for the room. Bali is the only Hotel I paid higher price. Soon after check in I went to the airport to book my flight ticket. I manage to get the flight on the 5th.1.2008. And paid 800.00Rm with the bike with Air Asia. And paid 150.000R for service Tax.

The day was fine but the hills are terrible. I had the same experience in Vietnam a few years back. I cycle with pain on my buttock and legs, Earlier I think I wanted to stop in Tabanan but I wanted to go near to Kuta. I have to stop many time to push my bike up the hills. One local cyclist take me to the hotel and he was a guide for me. He is a nice guy ones he was working for the government.

I did a short cycling cause I am have some pain in my leg. Too long cycling without stopping for last 3 days 21km cycling up hill be Ketapang. Here there is beautiful temple call Pura Rambutsiwi. It's beside the sea with Strong wavers. I celebrate New Year eating maize and drinking Arak Bali.

Situbondo to Asembagus, Wongsorejo, Ketapang
After 36km from Situbondo is a forest reseved area. Locals told me its 7km but it turn to be 21km Up hill and down, some places I have to push my bike up. It's too high form me to cycle. Not less than 12 places I have to stop and push. I took a ferry to Gilimanuk(Bali) from Ketapang ferry terminal. Fare 5.000R with my bike. I stay in Gilimanuk a night.

Going to Bromo HillI suppose to cycle to Situbondo but I cancel because last night they told I must visit is place. Not far from here. Its the volcano Lava, I took a bus to Gunong Bromo I manage to go up the hill and saw the lava. Its beautiful up there. I am happy to be there at least I saw some thing I never seen in my life.

Going to morning market in Probolinggo. Today is my rest day, went to market with lady. She showed me around the town. The Trisha we took got flat. we have to take a new one. The market is very busy and many people buy cheap things only. They are very poor.

Cycling Surabaya to Probolinggo Started rain at 4am, I start cycling at 6.00 am with the rain and the rain did not stop until I reach Probolinggo. To 24th Sunday 12.07. I left my friends house to Tuban. Tuban is a big town have a good Internet. I repaired my bike. Change the Tyres. It was raining here too. I cycle only 35km I have to dry my wet clothes, pass three days I did not wash any of them. I wanted to post some post cards. Its too expensive here to Post. No meaning I bought the card for 3.000R and postage cost me 20.000R. I better come back to Malaysia and post to my friends. I have 30 cards.Went I was cycling to Tuban I saw a Indon wedding. As I was taking some pictures a man came with a gift to me. A bag with cakes and sweets.

Today the 21rd.12.07.FridayI am tried cycling non stop for 6 days So took a break. One of HC member came to see in morning, we went for a tea, and talk about life in both countries. She took me to the bank cause I have to send some money home. I drive the motorbike and a police man Stop me for road offenses. I paid the fine of 67.000R. It was bad luck.At night there some young boys were drinking Vodka after their job. I join them.They are poor but they enjoy with me and buy Vodka for me.

But Losari don't have Internet service so I start cycling to a Place where I can sit in the inter net. I cycle down 60km from Losari to Jalan Keramat, Tegal. Stay in a Hotel for 60.000R. It was raining , I took a bus back to Tegal and found the internet. I have to look many place and took 3 buses to get there.Most of the people here don't know where the internet cafe and how far in km or distant. I stop at a junction and ask a police man how far is Brebes to Pekalongan, he said 10km Pak. No!!No!! it's 50km.

Today is 17th Tuesday started at 6.00 am. It was a fine day until 12.30pm. It start to rain, I stop and wait for the rain to stop but it did not. I keep on cycling for 2hrs in the rain. I cycle 95km from Lorbenar to Losari. Losari the the border to Jawa Tengah and Jawa Barat. It is close to sea. I stay in a simple guest house with Indon Family. Before I arrived in Indonisea I was afraid of the people here. I received bad information about Indon people. As I mix with them everyday but now I don't have fear of them. Maybe there are some bad guys around, Every where in the World there are bad guys and good guys. May be my luck is good meeting wonderful people all my way. This town is small and a lot of fisherman live here.

I reach at Pulau Perio at a port in Jakarta. Too bring down my bike from the Vessel I have to pay 15.000R. I cycle down to Jalan Mangga 2, Here I want to meet a friend introduce by a friend in Malaysia Veno. I met Mr. Gopal at his office. He gave me some advice and warn me of the people of Indonesia, Mr. Gopal introduce one of his staff to me and he took me to his house. I spend a night with him. He live on top floor of a old wooden building in Jakarta town. I have to go down for bath and pay 1000R. It was fun and feel how the poor people live in Town. At night he took me round the Jakarta Town. We had a few bottle of beers. He was very friendly man. He is expecting to be a father in two month time. I have no problem cycling from Pulau Perio to Jakarta Town. The traffic was heavy but things goes well. They are crazy drivers but I have to be crazy too.

At I am happy to see the ship. She arrived at 2.00pm I went late there is no sleeping bed. I have to pay 200.000R for bed and sleep with the crews. They be came friends and took me see around the ship. It is crowed in the ship it's capacity is 1000 people. But I think it is more than 1000.

Cycling Kejang to Tg.Pinang. I am waiting to long in Kijang for the ferry. So I did some cycling in Bitam. It was rain and I cycle about 40 km from Kijang Tg.Pinang. The roads are new and muddy. Met some school children on the road side.

I arrived in Johor Baru at 9.00 am on 8th.Dec.2008. I fix my bike at the bus station, and cycle down to Setulang ferry terminal to Tanjong Pinang, Indonesea. The ferry to Tg.Pinang fare cost 83RM, I was told 60RM earlier. I arrived in Tanjong Pinang at 2.00pm. I was told by the local people I have to go to Kijang to get a bigger ferry to Jakarta.There is no ferry to Jakarta from T.Pinang. I have no plan cycling in T.Pinang. So I cycle down to Kijang about 24km. But thing went wrong I took a wrong road and I did 45km to kijang. All the way there are small hills, I have to cycle up and down. And it was raining all the way. I get information that only two ferry trip to Jakarta a week that is on Monday and Thursday only. But my luck was not good. There is no ferry on Monday, so I have to wait until Wednesday.

I stay in a room for 20.000R a night about 3RM. It is a real village, and meet many local people and had local food. Many people in Kijang are poor. There is no tape-water, I have to use well water for my bath. Toilet and bathroom are not clean. There many call-girls here and very beautiful plus young. To me I don't any mood because they look like my children. May be my next page I will send some pictures

My working Patners in Tenaga Nasional

On the 7th।Dec.2007 at 10.00pm I am taking a bus from Parit Buntar to Johor Baru, Malaysia. About 10.00am on I will be taking a ferry from Johor Baru to Tanjung Pinang, (6 departure daily) a small Island in Indonesea. On Saturday and Sunday I will cycling around Tanjung Pinang. On Monday at 9.00am a Bigger ferry to Jakarta from Tanjong Pinang. (2 departure per week) Monday and Thursday only. Information said 48 hours on the sea to Jakarta, Jawa.

Hash House Harries, Bagan Serai, Perak
On 10th, Wednesday in will be cycling to Karawang, Cikampek, Jatibarang, Cirebon, Cileduk, Losari, Tegal, Pekalongan Batang, Kendal, Semarang, Kudus, Rembang, Kragan, Bulu, Tuban, Brondong, Sedayu, Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Pasuruan, Probolinggo, Sumberbatu, Jember, Glenmore, Banyuwangi, Bali, Cekik, Negara, Surabtan, Tabanan, Denpasar and Kuta. I plan to cycle 80 km to 100 km per day, estimate 1300 km. I will be cycling on 10th.12.07 until 3rd.01.08, on 6th.01.08 I have to go back to work.

Why and How I start Cycling

So far I have done a few cycling journeys. It started about 2 years ago when I met some cyclists in Parit Buntar, Perak, Malaysia its 45km from Penang. They had great stories about what they experienced. I became enthusiastic and bought a bicycle myself. That was at the end of 2003.

Round Malaysia in 14 days
The first thing I did was to cycle around Malaysia. I soon found out there were only a few Malaysians cycling. For many reasons cycling was never popular except for children. Of course the heat was an important factor. But I do not suffer much from the heat. I cycled around Malaysia in 14 days. I made many new friends. I learned quickly that in the west people are more used to cyclists. But here in Malaysia it's all different. People were friendly, probably curious would be a better word. Those 14 days were a great experience. In Parit Buntar many people started to know my new found love for cycling. Whenever a cyclist was on the way to Parit Buntar, they called me and I would pick them up to show them around my hometown and listen to their stories and tell them a few stories myself.

South Thailand

From the first journey to the next was a small step. South Thailand became the next destination. I went to many different places in South Thailand including Phuket, Krabi, Ko Samui but also to lesser known places such as Songkhla. Making friends in Thailand I went all over and had a great time. But being back home I felt there was more to explore. I started to plan a longer journey which eventually ended up with a plan to ride in Thailand and visit the countries that border Thailand.

Asean Countries

The "40 Days Great Bike Ride" The plan was simple, ride around the border of Thailand on the "other" side of the border. It was the idea to cycle to Siem Riep (Angkor in Cambodia) from Bangkok, then back to Thailand, into Laos. Next would be Vietnam and through China to Myanmar and then back into Thailand. It went actually a bit different. Very soon after I started doing some research it was clear I couldn't do that much. China, according to some cyclists I met, was definitely too much for the time I had available. Another problem was an overland border to Myanmar. There's none you can cross. Not even Malaysians are allowed. (We do not need visa for these countries). Due to a lack of time I couldn't do as much cycling as I wanted. So I went by train to Bangkok and started cycling to Cambodia. Through quite rough road I went back to Thailand, cycled further to Mukhdahan and crossed into Laos to Savanaketh. Now I cycled to the Vietnamese border but due to some things I had to take the bus to Hanoi. From here I cycled to the Vietnamese-Lao border crossing close to Dien Bien Phu but I couldn't cross. I went back to Hanoi, took a bus back to Laos and went straight to North Thailand to get a little bit of a Burmese experience. After visiting the Golden Triangle, I had to go back South. Hardly any time left but I went to Southern Thailand to the island of Ko Tao for a rest.

Cycling in South India

On the 4th of December I will finally visit the country of my ancestors. Preparations are in full swing now. The flight ticket is arranged, and so is the visa. The plans is to stay 45 days in South India, cycling from Madras to Nagarcoil south and make to a loop to Kerala before visiting some of my relatives living near Madras. I will keep you informed.
